Merry Christmas!

This has been my favorite Christmas season yet. I learned this month just how much the country of Japan is infused with the spirit of Christmas. My senseis and students were just so excited for Santa-themed lessons all month long!

A beautiful handmade card from one of my top classes. I love them!

And after a not-so-festive October 31st on Amami, I worried there wouldn’t be much holiday cheer around town. But to my surprise, I saw Santas in  storefront windows, Christmas trees in traditional Japanese homes, and a beautiful illumination display that we could walk through!

Nothing says Christmas in Japan like a Hello Kitty Illumination

I fortunately made it home to my parents’ in Connecticut for Christmas, but I am actually missing my island school!

I am off to go open presents–most of which will be omiyage to bring back to everyone in Japan. :)

Merry Christmas to all!

Up next will be my advice about the JET Interview Process.
